Safeena Husain, CEO
Has over 10 years experience in designing and executing experiential learning programs. She is a noted expert in the field of education, serving as Executive Director of Foundation to Educate Girls Globally. She currently runs educational programs for girls in 500 schools in Rajasthan.
From 1997 to 2004 she worked as Executive Director of Child Family Health International (CFHI), San Francisco, and was responsible for managing and supporting a range of Global Health Education program for medical and pre-medical students. With CFHI, Safeena was instrumental in expanding the programs from Ecuador to India, South Africa, Mexico and Bolivia.
She started India Study Abroad Center to promote experiential and service learning programs. She is committed to education and positive international cultural exchange. Safeena holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science and was born and raised in New Delhi, India.
Mr. Hansal Mehta, Academic Director, Film and Media Program
An engineer by education, Hansal, has been a part of the Mumbai Film Industry as an editor, producer and director for the past 15 years. He has directed eight full-length feature films and has produced/directed/edited numerous television shows including the countries’ most popular food show ‘Khana Khazana’. Some of Hansal’s notable feature films include the acclaimed ‘Jayate…’, ‘Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar’ and ‘Chhal’. In addition to these he has to his credit feature films such as ‘Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai’, ‘Dus Khaniyaan’, ‘Raakh’, ‘Anjaan’ and ‘Woodstock Villa’.
Hansal also occasionally blogs on the popular website passionforcinema.com and his honest blogs have helped him articulate thoughts about his craft with film buffs from around the world.
Being a self-taught film-maker Hansal believes in sharing his journey and the journey of his extensive ‘Bollywood’ network with ISAC students. For him cinema is an art that deserves to be enjoyed and a profession that primarily stems out of experience. The Film and Media program offered by ISAC is an extension of this philosophy.
Ms. Sandhya Brahma, Program Director
Sandhya is a post graduate in sociology with a PG Diploma in Rural Development, with more than 8 years of experience of working in the development sector with national and international organizations. She has worked in the areas of Maternal and Child health and Child Rights in india. She has good understanding of the development issues expecially in the rural and tribal india.
Sandhya is married and has a daughter.
Aparna Thamankar, Placement Director
A postgraduate in Social work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Aparna has varied experience in the field of health, education and rural development. She worked in the health sector- specially HIV/AIDS for about 8 years and now heads a consultancy firm that provides various services like Social research, training, project management and documentation to NGOs and corporate houses.
She has rich experience in qualitative and quantitative research and project implementation in different fields. She had good understanding of the social processes and has an analytical mind.
She also conducts Life Skills Education Workshops for adolescents, women, managers, professionals and students. She has a good network of NGOs and professionals in the development sector. She is associated with various international and local NGOs.
She is married to a Govt. officer and has a daughter.
Mr. Mukesh Vana, Program Coordinator - Film and Media Program
Mukesh is responsible for the day to day monitoring and support of the Film and Media program. Apart from his duties as film program coordinator, he also provides support for airport pick up and intercity travel arrangements for the students.
Mr. Nisar Ahmed, Program Coordinator
Nisar has been working on the administrative side of the program. Apart from his office duties he also provides support to the students and volunteers. He has experience of working with overseas students and has handled students from the US, UK and Australia.
Sharad Kale, Program Coordinator
Sharad is the program coordinator in Pen and looks after the general administration and student concerns at the program site.
